Mr. Reed in Yellowstone

From Mr. Reed:
I have been selected to travel to Yellowstone National Park along with 9 other NC science educators through the Educators of Excellence Program sponsored by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. I am very excited to visit the park for the first time and represent our school!
While I am traveling, our team will be working with Yellowstone wolf biologists as well as author Nate Blakeslee, who wrote "American Wolf: A Tale of Survival and Obsession in the West" (A very interesting read on the reintroduction of the wolf to the Yellowstone region). We will be tracking the Yellowstone wolf packs as the biologists dart them from helicopters and perform wellness checks and collar checks.
We will get to spend time with Dan and Cindy Hartman. Dan Hartman is a semi-retired wildlife photographer and videographer who worked for National Geographic and lent his skills to the Planet Earth documentaries. The Hartmans have invited us to their home for dinner and a look at their personal galleries.
We will also be hiking and snowshoeing across several miles of the park, riding in the large yellow snowcoaches, taking a dip in the hot springs, and experiencing an early morning sunrise at a hopefully completely unoccupied Old Faithful.
The team will maintain a blog, linked below. My students will be required to interact with the blog while I am gone, but it is open to any interested adult or group of students. I will also be uploading daily photos and videos myself to the folder linked below. During the day, I will be totally disconnected from the world, but I will have to connect in the evenings to update the blog and send in my photos and videos.
I am very excited for this opportunity. Use the links below to keep up with my travels. I cannot wait to share my stories with you when I return.
